Deleted some of my blogs but no confirmation mail

   Deleted some of my blogs but no confirmation mail

   I’m deeply dissatisfied about one of my main blogs being suspended for more than 12 hours without any reply from WordPress staff. Just now that this blog is getting successful I’m not able to update this blog because of some ‘concern’ WordPress seem to have with ‘some of the content’ on this blog, and I’m still in the dark about what the problem might be and how to resolve it.

   It takes WordPress only seconds to suspend a blog/ user, just because they seem to mis the huge difference between advertisements and publicity … but many more hours to respond to my emails…

   So I’m seriously considering taking my blogs to a different host. And I’m getting more serious as the hours tick by. So I decided to start cleaning up some old and/ or less successfull blogs first while I wait for my verdict by deleting a number of them hosted at WordPress.com.

   For some blogs I received a confirmation mail, but for some I didn’t receive this mail so they will not be deleted. The email address is right so that could not be the problem. So any advise on how to get these blogs deleted anyway?

   Posting here won’t help. None of the volunteers in the forum care where you decide to host, and none of us can do anything about your suspension.

   I CAN advise you about the email: check your spam folder, as WP.com emails often go there, both the automatically generated warnings AND the staff responses to suspension requests.

   Well, you might be right about Wordpres not caring for their customers…

   But that’s not the (main) question, is it… Its about not recieving a confirmation mail with a link to delete my blogs.

   BTW I checked al my email and (sub)folders. No mail yet… and it’s about 14 hours ago that I replied to their request.

   It’s not an unusual wait; there are several other people who got suspended within the last day who are waiting.

   I didn’t say WordPress staff didn’t care about their customers. I said the volunteers really don’t have a horse in this race.

   You said the volunteers (that are working for this multi-million dollar business) don’t care. And I really don’t care whether they volunteer or not. They are working for and theirby representing WordPress as far as I’m concerned. So you telling me they don’t care actually means WordPress doesn’t care.

   But again… it’s not about the WordPress ‘Shoot First, Talk Later’ policy. That’s just a bloody shame and the reason I want to delete a number of my blogs and considering hosting elsewhere.

   It’s about receiving no confirmation mails…

   Yep… You almost convinced me WordPress doesn’t give a damn about their customers/ users. This inside information is not the progress I wanted… but it’s information non the less. It might help to make up my mind about hosting at a place where they DO care.

   I also recommend checking your spam folder within your email client if you haven’t already done so…

   Also guy’s please stop the arguing or there will be a forced option to close this thread

   Oh no! If you do that, what will I do for entertainment?

   There’s nothing like giving directions to a lost and confused tourist on the street, only to have that tourist turn on you and berate you for the fact the map wasn’t easy to understand, while confusing you for an employee of the map publisher. I just love that.

   Now I’m going off to count all my map-publishing revenue. I hope that the tourist is off to learn proper English.

   I just contacted a hostingcompany. Just because I don’t car about a company that doesn’t care about their customers. Bug or not… WordPress staff already needs more than 16 hours to reply a simple request made on behave of their request.

   if I ask a question, for instance, “What is RSS?” I can expect a complicated answer hedging around and about the specific topic I am troubled with, avoiding the ‘meat’ of what I said. so i’ll repeat it. What is RSS? Personally, I don’t care anymore. I just want it OFF my site. It looks bad for me to have things on my site that don’t work, that I don’t understand and probably wouldn’t use anyway. SO, I just want to get rid of it. But your wordpress setup or site or page or whatever you call it, I don’t care anymore, is SO difficult to use (I’m offended) that I don’t want to use it anymore! Unfortunately, I’m stuck with it for a while longer. Therefore, I’ll look for a better group. However, I can see that it is going to be SO difficult to even erase my information that I may not be able to shut down this operation called robbrichard’s blogspot blog and you may be stuck with me forever! Now be nice to me and I’ll stay. There are things about your site that I like and there is something good about blogspot: I sense there are some pretty good people behind this EXTREMEMLY user UNfriendly operation. Tell me: is the language I’m using okay for you? I use HUMAN language, this particular HUMAN language that I use is English. What is it YOU people use???    4. The RSS in your sidebar isn’t for you to use: it’s for others interested in what you post. Here the relevant support info page:

   (Looks like English to me.)

   5. If you don’t want to have the RSS in your sidebar, you can go to Appearance>Widgets and activate only whatever you’d like to have.

   6. If you wish to “shut down this operation called robbrichard’s blogspot blog”, we don’t care.

   (If you wish to shut down your wordpress blog, we don’t care either.)

   If the blog in question is robbrichards.wordpress.com, the reason why the RSS widget is not going away is that you have not added any widgets to that sidebar, but are still using the default widgets, which appear automatically unless the user selects some of his/her own. Simply add the desired widgets to “Sidebar 2″ and everything will be fine.

   Um, they’re not in violation of anything. You can’t take legal action against someone because they disagree with you and you don’t like that. I kind of doubt you have their IP addresses, like it matters anyway.

   What you perceive as hate mail and what someone else perceives as hate mail can be very different. I’d like to see some of these hate messages, from my own investigation, I haven’t found anything particularly offensive.

   And sorry, but it’s perfectly okay to link to a blog and tell people to go to it. Even if I tell people to go refute what’s being said. If there is something purely hateful or threatening, I will reverse my opinion, but from what I can see, that’s very unlikely.

   It should be noted that poetverse engaged struckbyenlightning at the latters blog, basically spewing a bunch of nonsense and rude comments. Sruckbyenlightning, a member of RD.net, posted on that forum, asking what to do about poetverse, and how to engage her in a debate, with poetverse apparently not being very well versed in logical thinking. A couple of RD.net members commented on struckbyenlightning’s blog, debunking poetverse’s nonsense, and poetverse got vile.

   A couple of people took it upon themselves to let poetverse know that she can’t behave however she pleases, and commented on her blog. Poetverse immediately started censoring her comments section, claiming harassment, and subsequently threatened legal action towards RD.net.

   In my opinion, poetverse is a highly emotionally disturbed person, apparently unable to see the hypocrisy in her behavior. She’s not to be taken seriously.

   @poetverse,

   Surely you’ve figured out by now that you can easily set your comments to moderation. Just go into your dashboard and set the discussion settings so that anyone who has already comment can comment without moderation. All others get modded first.

   And for those you don’t want to comment at all, you can block them by name, by IP address, by URL, the works. Just set it up and you’re fine.

    Actions by people on third-party sites, like the Dawkins one, don’t generally have any legal ramifications on WordPress.com.

    Actually, I saved all of the messages and I have put up moderation and now have Ips blocked, but my point is that my blog was targeted as a place to spew hate…and no…the comments were not disagreements…I was called names, insulted….

    You do have the right to free speech, but no–you don’t have the right to promote my blog to your friends as a place to send hate mail–that is harassment.

    Acutally, raincoaster, you are wrong. If a wordpress.com user posts my wordpress.com link on another site and, with friends, conspires that I should have my blog inundated with hate mail because it doesn’t look like I am moderated–that falls under harassment.

    And by the way, I went to her blog not because of an atheist post–it was a post about how she saw a movie and lost her faith–it was only later that I learned that it was an atheist pit. You see…plenty of atheists put posts under tags that are misleading so you don’t know you are on a devout atheist’s blog–that is her fault for using incorrect tags.

    What kind of hateful comments did you get? Did any of them come from me? I don’t remember saying anything hateful to you so I don’t see how you can be justified in saying my blog should be taken down.

    How was I using tags incorrectly?

    Also, in the post that you commented on I said that I’m an atheist so I don’t know why you thought you weren’t commenting on an atheist blog.

    btw there’s no such thing as a devout atheist. There is no dogma of atheism, so nothing to be devoted to. It’s simply the absence of belief in gods.

    Unless they post personal information like name and address, then let the comments go through and make new posts out of them. I was banned from a forum once, well many times, and I blogged about it. Many of them came to my blog and left angry comments and it was just an all out war. It lasted for weeks. One of my haters sent in an angry letter to a very popular site and he ran it. I sent in my reply. I post it all my blog. They comment again and it’s a war again. Fabulous for traffic. Raincoaster ^^ had the entire country of Albania hating her on her blog one time!

    Uh, this poetverse broad’s NAME links to her blog. I, for one, took it upon myself to return the bilious textual vomit she was constantly dropping on struckbyenlightening’s blog. It’s a ludicrous assertion that Linzee ordered people to inundate poetverse’s blog with hate mail. I just did it because she’s a hypocritical twat who cries foul when her own vitriolic hatred is thrown back at her. No one told me to do it.
    As for flame wars, I’m all for that. I love me some flaming. Maybe I’ll get hits on MY blog (that sucks more than catholic priest). I’m not even sure I’ve posted an entry. I should… for the whole overflow of the flamage. I need a pee.

   If you don’t care, why are you posting in the Hawt Post thread?

   You get to be Hawt Post by meeting the criteria of some algorithm created by staff. It’s some sort of combination of fastest-growing hits and a number of other factors. It roughly measures how “on fire” your blog is at the present moment. Would be neat if we had a measure for ALL blogs, not just the #1.

   You have set your main landing page as a static page instead of the standard blog page which shows your posts. Pages are for static material that seldom changes, and that is why dates or times are not shown on pages. Posts will show dates, but I am unaware of any themes here that show times on posts.

   Seems rossfromwash’s got a thing with comments: more than half of his forum posts today refer to comments in response to questions that have nothing to do with comments.

   For the record, the posting time is displayed in 23 themes. Kubrick is not one of them.

    Well, I guess i’ll leave to help forum to you experts. You seem to be doing a fine job. You’ve helped me so much I dont even feel the need to post in this forum anymore. Its kind of like someone asks you if the sky is blue, you run outside look and come back and say, no its grey today. Thanks so much!!
    By the way, I do know the difference between posts, pages and comments. But if you think about it, you can work around the limitations and manage to achieve the effect you want, even if its not what the terminology you are using seems to suggest you would like to do.
    Instead of saying constantly, you cant do this and you cant do that, how about saying, “you can do this to achieve the desired effect”.

    Example:
    Q: …can’t figure out why the date of my latest post isn’t showing on the main page?

    Then after explaining why it is not showing…..

    A: You could work around that problem by manually typeing in the date and time on the “page” or “post”.

    Oh, this dude has blown a lot of hot air and acted like a know-it all while giving the wrong answers from day one, so I’ve had my eye on him. It takes a lot to make my radar, but he did it. He’s an ass.
